This piece was inspired by THE HEALING TIME, a poem by Pesha Gertler:
Finally on my way to yes
I bump into all the places
where I said no
to my life
all the untended wounds
the red and purple scars
those hieroglyphs of pain
carved into my skin and bones,
those coded messages that send me down
the wrong street
again and again
where I find them,
the old wounds
the old misdirections
and I lift them
one by one
close to my heart
and I say holy holy.
This past decade has been a time of great personal growth and transformation for me. Without looking deeply and honestly at the places where I had said NO, I could not have said YES to myself and the opportunities that were coming my way. Leaning into what held me back: fear, insecurities and feelings of unworthiness, I found myself saying YES! I took risks, pushed myself further artistically, professionally, and personally. I found my voice through the leaning in – the stillness – through curiosity, inquiry, and observation.
